Snow Joe SJ615E Electric Single Stage Snow Thrower Review – Is It Any Good?
The Snow Joe SJ615E is one of the most affordable snow blowers in its class.
But affordability always begs the question: does the low price affect the quality. We wanted to answer that question for our readers and curious consumers so we actually tested the Snow Joe SJ615E.
We know Snow Joe to be a reliable manufacturer but we have traditionally stuck with their larger models.
So if you are interested in a smaller Snow Joe model, read on to find out everything you need to know about the Snow Joe SJ615E.

“The Snow Joe SJ615E is a single-stage snow blower that would work for light snowfall. It is a compact model and it’s affordable. It has an 11 amp motor and is rated to move about 440 pounds of snow per minute.”

How Does it Perform?
With fluffy, moderate snowfall, the Snow Joe SJ615E actually performed very well.
As a corded electric blower, you don’t have any limitations in terms of runtime, which is nice. Most of the blower is made out of plastic so it’s also very lightweight.
It’s very easy to push through the snow and store when you’re done. All that being said, the Snow Joe SJ615E struggled with wet or hard snow. For wet and hard snow, teh Snow Joe SJ615E can only handle about 4 inches.
This blower was designed for light, dry snowfall and it will struggle with hard snow or snowfall of about 9 inches or more.
How Much Snow Can it Handle?
The Snow Joe SJ615E is rated to move 440 pounds of snow per minute. However, that rating is for mostly dry snow.
How Far Does it Shoot?
Again, for mostly dry snow, the Snow Joe SJ615E blower can throw snow about 20 feet.
How Loud is it?
Inherently, the Snow Joe SJ615E is a pretty quiet blower because it has a relatively small, electric motor. However, we can’t help but think that if the chassis weren’t made of plastic, it would be even quieter. Overall though, it won’t wake up the neighbors.
How Heavy is it?
The Snow Joe SJ615E snow blower weighs just over 26 pounds.
Is it Easy to Maneuver?
In a word, yes. The Snow Joe SJ615E blower is so light and compact that we all had a very easy time moving it through moderate snowfall.
Auger Type
The Snow Joe SJ615E blower has a 2-blade plastic auger.
Snow Joe SJ615E Vs Snow Joe SJ618E
The Snow Joe SJ618E blower has an 18” clearing path and a more powerful 13 amp motor. It’s also a corded electric blower; but it is more appropriate for heavier snowfall.
How Long Should it Last Overall?
This is hard to say but overall, we can’t imagine that this blower will last very long.
What makes us say this is that both the auger and the chassis of the Snow Joe SJ615E are made out of plastic.
This was our biggest gripe with this snow blower. If you properly maintain and store this blower, we can see it lasting for about 5 years – maybe more.

Final Assessment
The Snow Joe SJ615E snow blower performs admirably in moderate snowfall.
While it can handle about 10 inches of snow without any major problems, it works best in the 8” range.
Our only major problem with it is that it is mostly made of plastic – even the auger is plastic. But if you aren’t dealing with heavy, packed or wet snow then that shouldn’t be a problem.
The Snow Joe SJ615E is affordable too so it’s worth a look for anyone with a small driveway to clear.
