This is a great chainsaw for felling small diameter softwood trees, tree topping, trimming and processing cords of firewood.

It’s also important to note that you can buy the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR with or without the battery. So if you already have a compatible Dewalt 20v battery, you can save a bit of money and buy one without the battery. We wouldn’t recommend anything bigger than a 12” bar as the oiler may not be able to handle it. But with the 12” bar that it comes with, the DEWALT 20V MAX* XR runs very smoothly.

DeWalt 15 Amp 18″ Electric Chain Saw Overview

If you need a bit more power for slightly bigger trees and storm cleanup jobs, the DeWalt 15 Amp 18″ Electric Chain Saw is a good choice.

Of course, the main thing to note here is that this is a corded chainsaw so cord management may be an issue for some folks. However, on the plus side, you get unlimited runtime.

We were really impressed and surprised at the power output of this chainsaw. It puts out the equivalent of 2.8 HP which is great for cutting softwood trees about 10 inches in diameter.

It’s not built as solid as the first DeWalt electric chainsaw we reviewed but with proper maintenance, the DeWalt 15 Amp 18″ Electric Chain Saw should still last you a good long time.

The 15 Amp motor makes for some pretty quick cutting. We were also impressed with the cleanness of the cuts. It comes with an 18” guide bar but we suspect that it wouldn’t have any trouble with a 21 incher.

In our time with the DeWalt 15 Amp 18″ Electric Chain Saw it didn’t kick back harshly at all. It will kickback a bit at high RPMs deep into a log; but that’s to be expected of most chainsaws.
