Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum Review
The fact that there are so many kinds of vacuums built for many different applications is both a good and bad thing. It’s good because it’s possible to get the perfect vacuum for your living situation. It’s bad because the sheer volume of choices can make research a pain in the neck.
If you are in the market for a new vacuum and are reading these words though, you’re in luck! That’s because we will be reviewing the very popular Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum to make it easier for you to sort through your choices. Let’s have a look!
Overview of the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum
If you are on a budget but still need powerful suction, the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum would be a great choice.
We were really impressed with how powerful this incredibly affordable vacuum was. The 8 amp motor is powerful enough to pick up fine pet hair so if you have indoor pets, this vacuum would work very well for you.
This is an upright vacuum but don’t let the bulk fool you: it weighs just 9 pounds which is comparable to many cordless stick vacuums. It comes with an extendable hose and a reaching wand to help you clean cobwebs from ceiling corners, carpets and much more.
This is a corded vacuum but the power cord is 20 feet so at least you get plenty of reach. This is also a bagless vacuum and the dust cup is very easy to empty. The dust cup can hold 1.5 liters of debris so you don’t even have to empty it very often.
First Impressions
The weight of this vacuum was easily the first thing we noticed about it.
Again, the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum weighs just 9 pounds and as soon as you take it out of the packaging, you will be impressed with the light weight too. While there is no swivel steering, the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum is still easy to maneuver because it’s so light.
The automatic flooring height detection is also very impressive as you don’t have to mess around with any dials. It goes from carpeted floors to hardwood seamlessly and doesn’t seem to lose suction power.
Key Features
Rinsable Pleated Filter – To help preserve suction power, Dirt Devil included a washable pleated filter to help keep airflow up to par.
Multi-Purpose Attachment – The Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum comes with an attachment that works as a crevice tool and a dust brush.
Quick Release Wand – The extender wand connects to the onboard hose to allow you to clean above-head areas. It’s lightweight so it’s not much of a strain to hold it above your head while cleaning.
120v Motor – The 120v motor allows the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum to pick up very fine dust particles and pet hair.
How Does it Perform?
We were wary about this upright vacuum’s ability to get around furniture and tight angles but it’s so light that obstacles and corners were no problem. While it’s average-sized dust cup doesn’t make it ideal for large homes, it’s a great choice for small to medium apartments and houses.
It sucks very well on low-pile carpet and hardwood floors. However, it doesn’t do as well on high-pile carpet.
How Loud is it?
For an upright vacuum cleaner, the Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum isn’t very loud. It’s louder than a cordless stick vacuum but still quiet enough to run in small apartments without driving anyone crazy.
How Heavy?
The Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum weighs just 9 pounds which is very light for an upright vacuum.
How is the Waste Stored?
The waste is stored in a front-facing, 1.5 liter dust cup which can be easily removed from the vacuum and emptied over a trash can.
Endura Reach Vs. Endura Max – Who Should Buy Each?
The Endura Max is slightly heavier at 11 pounds but has a larger, 2-liter dust cup. While the cleaning path of the Endura Reach model is 11 inches, the Endura Max sports a 13 inch cleaning path. Therefore the Endura Max would be best for larger homes while the Reach would be best for small to medium homes.
Pros:
- Very lightweight
- Very affordable
- Powerful enough for pet hair
- Compact design
- 20ft power cord
- Great on hardwood and low carpet

Who Should Buy it?
The Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum would work best in small to medium homes that don’t feature a lot of high-pile carpet. It would also be a great choice if you have any indoor pets that shed fur.
Other Vacuums to Consider
- Bagotte Cordless Vacuum Cleaner – The Bagotte cordless vacuum cleaner has a suction power of 25Kpa which is more than enough to pick up fine dust particles and pet hair. This is also cordless stick vacuum that converts into a handvac.
- Eureka Airspeed Ultra-Lightweight Compact Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner – Another affordable upright at just 7.7 pounds and just around $70. You also get a crevice tool and a washable filter.
- Dirt Devil Endura Lite – The Endura Lite has many of the same features as the Endura reach like an 11 inch cleaning path and 20ft power cord. But it has a slightly smaller, 1-liter dust cup making it more suitable for small spaces.
Final Assessment
The Dirt Devil Endura Reach Compact Upright Vacuum is a great vacuum for small to medium homes. We were impressed because it packs more suction power than we usually see in this category of vacuum.
The attachments are limited and it isn’t great for high-pile carpet; but you should definitely check it out if those aren’t issues for you.
