Key Differences Between the Worx WG524 and the Worx WG522

There are a couple of key differences between the Worx WG524 and the Worx WG522. You can see the first one in the chart above. The Worx WG522 moves a little less air than the Worx WG524 overall.

The other key difference is the design of the collection bag. With the WG524, Worx added a neat little feature that makes it easier to dump your leaves directly into a bin.

The collection bag of the Worx WG524 has an elastic lip so you can stretch it over the opening of most garbage cans. That means you can suck up leaves with the vacuum and send them directly into the yard waste bin – the Worx WG522 doesn’t have that feature. Also, the Worx WG524 has a 1.4  bushel collection bag while the Worx WG522 has a 1.2 bushel capacity.

Worx WG524 Key Features

  • 18:1 Mulching Ratio – The Worx WG524 can turn 18 bags of leaves into one with the metal impeller of the mulcher.
  • 8’ Hose – The Worx WG524 comes with an 8’ flexible hose that makes it easy to channel leaves exactly where you want them.
  • Two-Speed Operation – Variable speeds help you keep yard features and fixtures in place while you blow and get rid of stubborn leaves when you need to.

Worx WG522 Key Features

  • Single-Knob Conversion – With the turn of a knob, you can switch from vacuum to blower mode.
  • Metal Impeller – The mulcher uses a metal impeller which is capable of handling all kinds of leaves, grasses and even small twigs.
  • Wide-Mouth Tube – The tube has a wide opening which is perfect if you have a large area to clear.

Price Comparison

The Worx WG524 is just $10 more expensive at $160 while the Worx WG522 usually retails for about $150.

Weight & Handling Comparison

Consumers should be aware that both of these leaf blowers are corded electric blowers. That means your range will be decided by the length of extension cord you have. The cord can be a bit difficult to manage; but to offset cord management, both the Worx WG524 and the Worx WG522 are very light. They both weigh 9 pounds and can easily be operated with one hand.

Power Comparison

The Worx WG524 is a bit better for large, wide open spaces as it has a 620 CFM rating. The Worx WG522 moves air at 600 CFM so it’s still good for medium to large yards; but it struggles a bit with wide open spaces like pool and wooden decks. The Worx WG524 also has a more powerful mulcher.
